My famous smoothie recipe

If you've seen me around the gym in the mornings, you might have noticed me drinking a giant green beverage. It garners a lot of questions.

I explain what's in it and why I drink my famous smoothie every day. ‚ÄčI also find myself telling people about my famous smoothie recipe as a solution to health problems and for increased fat loss.

One of my clients that I got started drinking this smoothie lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks!

Not only is this smoothie your fastest way to losing unwanted body fat, it’s also one of the healthiest things you can do for yourself.

I use this smoothie to stay lean year round and combat all the toxins that find their way into my body on a daily basis.

I make one of my famous smoothies every day. Had one today and I’ll have another one tomorrow.

This smoothie will make you invincible and give your body the things it needs to build up your "killer cells” to destroy all the toxins, denatured/mutated cells, etc in our bodies. Also VERY good for reducing inflammation and keeping the body in an alkaline state (not acidic). It prevent and even help to cure the plethora of diseases that afflict our society.

All the major groups are covered...

- Macro-nutrients: Protein 20 grams, Healthy Fats 20 grams, Carbohydrates 40 grams

- Micro-nutrients: Vitamin A, B, C, D, E, and K; Minerals calcium, copper, iron, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, selenium, zinc

- Phyto-nutrients: Phytonutrients are nutrients found in plants that develop to protect the plant from damaging environments. Plants are exposed to excess ultraviolet radiation, predator pests, toxins and pollution, resulting in the generation of dangerous free radicals within their cells. These free radicals can then bind and damage proteins, cell membranes and DNA of the plant.

Fortunately, phytonutrients simultaneously develop to shield the plant from such damage as well as provide their color, flavor and smell. Why is this important to us? Since we are exposed to radiation and various environmental elements just like plants, we need phytonutrients to protect us.

How do we get phytonutrients? We get them by eating the plants!

Each plant contains tens of thousands of different phytonutrients that can act as antioxidants, hence it’s key to eat high-antioxidant foods in order to fight free radical damage.

The American Cancer Society defines phytonutrients or phytochemicals as:

"Plant compounds like carotenoids, lycopene, resveratrol and phytosterols that are thought to have health-protecting qualities. They are found in plants such as fruits and vegetables. Phytochemicals are best taken in by eating the foods that contain them rather than taking the supplements or pills."

Here’s the play by play to make your own famous smoothie...

Start with 8-10 oz of filtered water

1 Tbsp chia seeds
2 Tbsp cold milled flax
3 Tbsp hemp hearts (seeds)
fill the picture with mixed greens (spinach, kale, collard greens, chard)
blend it all up and it goes back down to 10-12 oz of green liquid
add 1-2 cups frozen mixed berries
add 1/2 (or whole) avocado
add one peeled lemon or lime (leave one twist of rind on for blending)
add 1-2 cups frozen mango (or fruit blend)
add 2-3 long carrots
add 1 apple
add pasteurized egg whites (amount equal to 15 grams of protein)
blend until smooth
Feel free to add any other vegetables or fruits that you want.

The main important things are to have:

healthy fats from the chia/hemp/flax and avocado

protein from the chia/hemp/flax and egg whites

chlorophyl rich greens
high antioxidant berries
Apple, carrot, and mango make it taste better without spiking the sugar content much. The lemon or lime gives it a nice little kick and a big boost of vitamin C.

Don't worry about using the liquid egg whites just because they're raw. Cooking them is unnecessary due to pasteurization which makes them safe to consume raw.

The ingredients that I’ve chosen to put in this smoothie give you the best of all the different categories that you want covered for optimal health.

But you should still eat fish and/or take an omega3 supplement (sourced from wild caught fish) daily to make sure you’re getting enough omega3 from fish. It’s a little different than the omega3 you get from the chia, flax, and hemp. We’re healthiest if we have both sources of omega3 in our lives.

Please try your best to use all organic ingredients. You’re doing this to achieve optimal health and consuming organic foods is the way to do that. Fertilizers and pesticides are not healthy to consume and you better believe that you’re ingesting fertilizers and pesticides when you eat non-organic foods.

I use a Vitamix blender that holds 64 ounces. If you’re using a smaller blender and/or motor with less power, you will have to adjust accordingly.

It will take you 5-7 minutes to make this smoothie and the nutrition from it will last you most of the day. You should still plan on having an additional 1-2 healthy meals during the day as well. These can be at any time throughout the day.

What works best for most people is to drink the smoothie throughout the day and then have a healthy dinner based on how hungry you are after the giant smoothie you drank during the day.

You’ll need three 20 oz containers to hold it all. Keep them refrigerated when not actively drinking them and do your best to consume it all within 12 hours of blending it.
