Life is busy right now. Just the way I like it. :-) The month of October is crazy every year with 5 immediate family birthdays and my wedding anniversary.

Yup that's right, I celebrated 11 years of marriage this past weekend. If you've met my wife then you know how lucky I am that she said yes to my proposal. She's smart, funny, and a total knockout. She loves to workout, eat healthy, and does an amazing job as a mom. I love ya babe!

This coming Wednesday is my older son's 6th birthday, as well as, my sister's husband Rob's birthday too. We had a family dinner for both of them last night at our new house in West Seattle.

It's tough getting settled in after moving. There's stuff to do nonstop. And the worst is not really knowing where anyth...

I haven't put in a day like that in a long time. It was a good 10 hours of heavy lifting and non-stop hustle. As you know, I love to workout so a day full of exercise wasn't too much of a problem for me. ;-)

Saturday I got to sleep in so I felt good enough to take my sons out for a hike in Snoqualmie. It was a beautiful day to be up in the tree covered hills.

Burien Brat Trot 5K: This coming Sunday, October 1, is the big day for the annual Bavarian Fest 5K! The weather forecast calls for a sunny 70 degree day.

Well I just wrapped up a fun weekend with my wife's family celebrating her brother's birthday. We all got together at their family cabin on Lake Ki up north and had lots of fun.

Over the weekend, I had my little boys practice using their NASA approved solar eclipse glasses so they will know how to use them properly when the moon goes in front of the sun today.

I really wanted to go down to Oregon to view it in totality but my older son, Tristan, has kindergarten orientation week for school and we didn't want him to miss the first day. 92% solar coverage will have to be sufficient for us.

This week I'll be putting together the finishing touches on our upcoming 12 week weight loss challenge that starts September 11. I have done research into ...

Usually, this time of year, I have lots of fun stories to share about my weekend adventures. But this weekend I spent the majority of my time packing household belongings into boxes and loading them into a moving POD.
I've spent the last 6 years living in Burien and I've enjoyed every minute of it. I love how much Burien has grown over the years but it's time to move back to the place I grew up, West Seattle.
Yes, I spent the majority of the weekend packing but I still managed to make it out to the Mariners game on Saturday night for Edgar Martinez's number retirement celebration. I watched the Mariners religiously in the 90's so it was great to see all the old players out there in his honor.

It's been a fun week of birthday celebrations for my 4 year old son, Landon. His birthday was on Tuesday so we spent the day at Wild Waves and Enchanted Village. We celebrated and opened presents on multiple different days throughout the week culminating with a big party on Sunday with his friends and all the family together. Happy birthday big boy!I played in a beach volleyball tournament on Saturday down at Alki Beach. The temperature was supposed to be around 90 but it ended up not being too hot because the smoke haze from the BC fires filtered the sun a bit.Today we're starting our final round of the 21 day summer boot camp series. This is just an official start date but we will have many others start their personal 21 day journey al...

It's been a busy and fun summer! We've been celebrating birthdays and having fun with family visiting from Detroit.

Our cousins from Detroit were in Seattle this week, and we had so much fun going to Mariner games, hanging out downtown, doing touristy things, going to improv theater, and just visiting & laughing. It went by so fast! Miss them already! We also celebrated my sister Corrie's birthday a little belated with family this Saturday, and then on Sunday we had a birthday party at our local Normandy Park pool for my twin nephews, Roman & Hayden.

This week is also my youngest son Landon's 4th birthday! He's been very excited for his birthday this Tuesday. Every day he talks about his "Thomas (the Train) birthday party". He is my silly, ...

I played in my first beach volleyball tournament of the summer this last weekend. It was actually the first time I've even played volleyball this summer. In years past, I've put a lot of time into beach volleyball to stay on top of my game, so it's weird to have not even played yet.

I've been trying to get over a tear in my rotator cuff since January and it's still not better. But I decided I couldn't sit on the sidelines any longer. Even if I wasn't able to play at 100% of my ability, I would still get out there and give it my best.

I was only able to hit the ball with about 60% of my normal swing but we still were able to win a few games in the tournament. We probably shouldn't have registered to play in the top division against the t...

I saw an infomercial the other day for a weight loss solution targeting the frustrated people who, “fail to see results from diet and exercise.” Had to scratch my head on that one.

When does diet and exercise fail? This, of course, is a trick question. Diet and exercise don’t fail. The only way for diet and exercise not to work is if you fail to stick with it long enough for the results to show.Plain and simple. End of story.I’ve seen more clients than I can count transform their bodies through the power of diet and exercise. Without surgery. Without gadgets. Without pills. The real question to ask, when you’re not making progress towards your fat loss goal, is not why diet and exercise has failed you, but rath...

Weight loss is often a frustrating pursuit, eluding even those who eat healthy and exercise. So what gives? Why won’t the scale budge even as you put out tremendous effort?

1. You Don’t Sleep Enough

Let’s start with the most rampant problem standing in the way of your fat loss. Most adults simply do not get adequate sleep to support weight loss. There is a scientific reason for this, and it has everything to do with hormone levels. While you sleep your cortisol levels decline while your growth hormone levels increase.
